A Handy Guide for Publishing With WordPress

A Handy Guide for Publishing With WordPress

Late last year I wrote a post about a great guide that I was referred to for setting up WordPress on Amazon Web Services. The guide was written by Jeff Reifman, who's an extremely talented technology consultant living in Seattle, Washington. He's a longtime ex-Microsoft Group Program Manager, freelance writer and activist.

Well, Jeff's written up another handy guide that I'm sure more than a few of you will be interested in. It's called Publishing with WordPress and in it, Jeff steps you through all the important (& sometimes technical) steps in actually getting your WordPress site online and managing it once it is. He even talks about some of the various ways in which you can earn money from your site (I'm making sure I read that section myself!). …Continue reading

I get a lot of emails asking for advice on which plugins or themes to use, or which hosting service is best. There's a huge number of hosting services out there, some better than others, and at times it can be hard to distinguish between them before signing up. When it comes to themes and plugins, it's even harder because there's even more to choose from. With over 30,000 plugins in the official Plugin Directory, and over 2,500 themes in the Themes Directory, it can make for even more difficulties. And that's not taking into account the thousands of theme and plugin shops that are all over the web.

So, to try and help you with this task, I thought I'd share with you some of the more common plugins, themes and services that I use on a regular basis, both on my own sites and when I’m building client sites. …Continue reading

Well, I gotta say, when I first launched Easy WP Guide back in May 2011, I never thought I'd see the downloads tick over to 100,000! A big thanks to those folks who have supported & shared the site with your colleagues, friends & clients. Also, a big thanks to those that have donated some coinage. One of the big costs with the site is the hosting, due to the traffic that goes through it. Last, but never least, thanks to everyone who's downloaded a copy (or two) of the guide. It's fantastic getting emails from people telling me how much they love the guide and how useful it's been. …Continue reading
