WordPress 5.4, named “Adderley” in honour of American jazz trumpeter Nat Adderley, was released last month (March 31). It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard.
This latest update brings more improvements to the Block Editor (Gutenberg), improved privacy control, and a bunch of improvements for developers.
WordPress 5.3, named “Kirk” in honour of jazz multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk, was released earlier last month (Nov). It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard.

WordPress 5.2, named “Jaco” in honor of renowned and revolutionary jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius, was released earlier this month. It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard.
WordPress now makes it easier to fix your site if something goes wrong, along with making it easier to identify and solve configuration issues and fatal errors. WP 5.2 also improves the Block editor with new Blocks and improvements with accessibility.
WordPress 5.1, named “Betty” after acclaimed jazz vocalist Betty Carter, was released just recently. It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard.
Following on from the huge WordPress 5.0 release of the new Block Editor (Gutenberg), WordPress 5.1 focuses on polishing the editing experience, and in particular, improving the overall performance of the Block Editor.
WordPress 5.0, named “Bebo” after Cuban jazz musician Bebo Valdés, was released in early December. It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard.
WordPress 5.0 is a HUGE release, with some major changes to how you write your content. The major change being the introduction of a brand new editor, called the Block Editor, although you may also know it by its development codename, Gutenberg. The editing interface has been rebuilt to make it easier to create media rich Pages and Posts and to provide you with more flexibility. As the name suggests, the Block Editor treats all your content as individual blocks. Each block can be inserted, rearranged and styled individually, making this new editor more flexible than the old (TinyMCE) Classic Editor.
WordPress 4.9, named “Tipton” in honour of jazz musician and band leader Billy Tipton, was just released recently. It’s available for download from WordPress.org or you can update in your WordPress dashboard. Of course, whenever a major version of WordPress is released it means that I also update the Easy WP Guide.
